From The Chairman's Desk

Friends:

This week, Governor Hassan stood up firmly for New Hampshire's families and small businesses and said she will veto the unbalanced and fiscally irresponsible Republican budget if it reaches her desk.

We are proud to stand with the Governor as she fights for a budget that is balanced honestly and responsibly, and invests in critical economic priorities for our state's people, businesses, and economy.

Meanwhile, Republicans’ irresponsible plan includes tax giveaways for big corporations that would blow a $90 million dollar hole in the budget, undermining our ability to hold down the cost of college tuition, ensure that Granite Staters have access to quality, affordable health coverage, and keep our roads and bridges clear and safe.

Senate President Chuck Morse even admitted that Republican legislators were putting out-of-state corporations and Republican presidential candidates ahead of New Hampshire’s families and small businesses.

A budget that gives unpaid-for tax breaks to out-of-state corporations at the expense of priorities such as education, health care, transportation, and public safety is unacceptable -- and we will keep standing proudly with Governor Hassan as she fights for the priorities that will move our people, businesses, and economy forward.

Let the legislature know that it's long past time to put politics aside and work with Governor Hassan to pass a responsible, bipartisan budget that will truly meet the needs of Granite Staters by joining our Letter to the Editor team.

Have a great weekend,

Raymond Buckley, Chair
New Hampshire Democratic Party
